This multi-purpose project combines the functions of a Music Studio, a Workshop, an In-law Apartment and a Guest House into a single backyard accessory structure. The Music Studio/In-law Apartment/Guest House is above and is supported by the outer walls of the lower level. To provide acoustic separation, the Workshop is constructed underneath, within the main structure, without touching the walls or ceiling.The Great Room spaces of the In-law Apartment/Guest House serve as a sitting area when the upper level bedrooms are used as music suites, as well as a small concert hall during recitals. Each bedroom has a wall bed with fold down desk so the spaces can quickly transform between studio and sleeping space.
